What is fujiPod

The goal of the fujiPod project is to provide a single platform that makes it easy and fun to study Japanese with interactive content controlled by modern algorithms.

Everyone is different, so we aim to provide an efficient way of studying for everyone with features like:

  • a smart dictionary with words, kanji, sentences and lessons
  • dynamically generated audio study streams, tailored to your level and vocabulary
  • study lists to save and share and organize dictionary entries
  • a quiz with spaced repetition and questions dynamically generated for you
  • social features to study together with others and encourage each other

We are actively improving features, adding content and thinking about new ways to make studying Japanese fun. Join today and start your journey to the top.

Is fujiPod free of charge?

Currently all features are free to use for everyone! We are still developing features and fixing bugs, so there might be missing content or bugs, but we are making progress every day. Some features like study progress require a free account.

The development of fujiPod is funded by our users through donations. We can avoid showing ads and putting content behind paywalls thanks to you! If you like the content and want us to continue making more, consider supporting us.

I'm new here and lost, what should I do first?

We recommend making a free account to track your study progress first. You decide how you want to study, here are some suggestions:

How do I start "studying" words and kanji?

Either by listening to study streams that recommend you new words to study (such as Podcast mix or Learn word) or by clicking the a meaning on the dictionary page of a word.

When a word is marked as studying, it will appear in study streams and quiz questions as well as have its progress tracked on the study progress page.

What are study streams?

Study streams are personalized audio streams that are dynamically generated and change every time you listen to them. They help you learn new words, repeat words and sentences you've already heard and much more.

Streams change their content every time, so you can listen to them as many times as you like and get a different experience every time. Some streams even change the content on a time schedule, like the Words of the day stream you can listen to right now .

Check all available streams on the study streams page.

Why can't I find a word/kanji in the dictionary search?

Dictionary search is a complex topic and we are constantly improving search algorithms. If you are certain that a specific search should return different results, please let us know on the Discord channel so we can make improvements.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, the official Android app is available through the Google Play Store. We recommend using it on mobile devices to get additional features like audio streams with the screen turned off and native media controls.

We will make an iOS app in the future, consider supporting to help us develop it faster.

I have an idea for a new feature, how can I let you know?

Join our Discord channel and let us know! We are adding features as quickly as possible, consider supporting us to allow us to add them even faster.

Why isn't there more content?

Making audio recordings, lessons, quiz questions and algorithms requires time and funds. The current content aims to showcase what fujiPod can do and how dynamic content tailored to you can speed up your study progress, but it's just the start.

We want to make more content like this, especially for higher level learners as it's currently very limited, but to do that we need your help! Consider supporting us financially for more content and to keep it free for everyone. Thank you for your support and keeping the project alive.
